Delhi-NCR to Get Rain Relief as Thunderstorms Bring Dip in Temperature

Residents of Delhi-NCR are likely to experience relief from the ongoing heatwave as thunderstorms and rainfall are forecast to impact the region. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), changing weather conditions will lead to a noticeable drop in temperatures over the next few days.

The national capital has been witnessing soaring temperatures, with mercury levels crossing 40°C in several areas. However, the arrival of moisture-laden winds, coupled with western disturbances, is expected to trigger thunderstorms, gusty winds, and scattered rainfall.

Weather experts suggest that wind speeds could reach up to 40–60 km/h during storm activity, potentially causing localized disruptions such as traffic slowdowns and temporary power outages. Despite this, the rainfall is expected to significantly improve comfort levels and reduce heat stress for residents.

The IMD has advised citizens to stay cautious during thunderstorm activity, avoid open areas during lightning, and remain updated with real-time weather alerts. The shift in weather is seen as part of a broader pattern affecting several northern states, bringing intermittent relief from extreme summer conditions.
