Severe Weather Warning: IMD Predicts Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms and Strong Winds Across Multiple States

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a widespread weather alert across multiple states, forecasting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 60 km/h.

According to officials, regions including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, and parts of central and eastern India are likely to witness intense weather activity over the next 24 to 48 hours. The sudden shift in weather patterns is attributed to active western disturbances and moisture incursion from nearby regions.

Authorities have warned that strong winds and lightning could lead to disruptions in transport services, power outages, and localized damage, especially in vulnerable areas. Citizens have been advised to avoid open spaces during thunderstorms and follow safety guidelines issued by local administrations.

Meanwhile, parts of southern India are expected to receive moderate to heavy pre-monsoon showers, providing temporary relief from rising temperatures. However, weather experts caution that the mix of heatwave conditions in some regions and storms in others reflects increasing climate variability.

The IMD continues to monitor the situation closely and has urged state governments to remain on alert to minimize potential risks to life and property.
