Trump Confirms May Summit With Xi Jinping After Iran War Delays China Visit

US President Donald Trump has confirmed that his much-anticipated meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping will take place in mid-May in Beijing after being postponed due to the ongoing Iran war. The summit was originally scheduled for late March or early April but had to be delayed as the United States focused on military and diplomatic developments related to the conflict in Iran.

The White House announced that Trump will visit China on May 14–15 for talks with Xi Jinping, with discussions expected to cover trade relations, global security, and diplomatic cooperation. The meeting comes at a critical time for US-China relations, which have been shaped by trade tensions, geopolitical competition, and the ongoing Middle East conflict.

Officials said the postponement was mainly due to Trump needing to remain in Washington to monitor developments related to the Iran conflict and its impact on global oil supply and security. Despite the delay, both countries emphasized the importance of maintaining high-level communication and cooperation between the world’s two largest economies.

The summit is expected to focus on trade agreements, tariffs, technology restrictions, and international security issues, making it one of the most significant diplomatic meetings of the year.
